The Business Challenge

The client needed to stabilize an unreliable analytics environment while accelerating retirement of high-cost Azure SQL Server dependencies. Reporting logic had become fragmented across Bronze, Silver and Gold data layers, staging objects, direct ERP connections, Crystal Reports and legacy transformations - creating reconciliation risk, inconsistent KPI definitions and operational dependency on manual intervention.

• Multiple enterprise source systems and ERP platforms required coordinated ingestion and reconciliation, including Oracle-based Quantum, Dymax and EPDS environments.

• Approximately 367 source tables fed the Bronze layer, while the Silver layer contained roughly 199 standardized/conformed objects and the Gold layer centered on 32 curated objects.

• Five high-impact Gold fact domains - sales orders, invoices, purchase orders, inventory and quotes - required rule validation, logic remediation and trusted downstream consumption.

• The reporting estate included 22 reporting views, 14 notebooks, prepared reporting views and EDW-based reference-data dependencies.

• Critical business rules were embedded in legacy reports and transformations, making a simple lift-and-shift migration inappropriate.

The Solution

The delivery strategy treated the initiative as an accelerated modernization program rather than a lift-and-shift migration.
